The Indian biking scene is heating up like never before! Just in a span of few days we have seen a spate of new bike launches. These start from the weirdly priced and equally weird looking Suzuki Inazuma, and all the way to the humongous offerings from Indian motorcycles. Here’s a look at each one of them:

New bike launches – Suzuki Inazuma – 3.10lacs

Well, I never thought this was possible, but the folks at Suzuki have actually launched a 250cc Hunk lookalike with an oversized front mudguard for 3.10lacs. What were they thinking? I don’t have the least shit of an idea. But I would be really disappointed if even 1 of these ugly things is sold. I have nothing against Suzuki, but buying the Inazuma over a CBR250R or a Duke 390 or a Cafe Racer or a Ninja 300 is pure stupidity. 

The bike produces a laughable 26bhp and 22Nm of torque, which is nothing but a joke for something that costs over 3lacs. The styling is like a cheap mutation of the Suzuki B-King. Looks utterly ghastly to me. Available in 2 colors, red and black. If you are planning to buy this, please reconsider! Or talk to me, I would try my best to change your mind.

Kawasaki Z800 – 8.05lacs

The guys at Kawasaki are simply going nuts, and not in a bad way! They launched the Ninja 1000, ZX-14R, ZX-10R and the Z1000 recently, only to complement it with the mad Z800 now. The bike is priced at 8.05lacs, which is quite reasonable for what you get.

The Z800 boasts of 113 horses and 83Nm torque figure, which looks sufficient to tug at the 231kgs of beast that it is. ABS comes in standard, so that’s good news for the speed demons. The bike is pitted directly against the Ducati Monster 796, and should give bikers with deep pockets something to think about.

Harley Davidson Street 750 – Around 5lacs

The Harley Davidson Street 750 was unveiled at the recently concluded India Bike Week, Goa. The event was quite a disappointment, however the Street 750 is a lovely lovely machine. It looks every bit as Harley as you can think, and looks quite a lot bigger in flesh than in photos.

The bike is expected to make 40 horses and 50Nm of torque from the V twin, which should be much more than enough for our biking conditions. Street 750 is made for India and made in India, so I expect the handling and ride to be just awesome. The bike weights in at just 182kgs, which should bring many smiles to the height-challenged people of our country. The bike will be officially launched at the Auto Expo, keep your check books ready!

Indian Chief range – 26.5 to 33lacs

The Gods of cruisers are here, Indian motorcycles sell like hot cakes in the US. They have a very different look and feel about them, which helps them differentiate from the crowds of hogs everywhere.

Indian has launched 3 bikes in India, the Chief Classic at 26.5lacs, the Chief Vintage at 29.5lacs and the Chieftain at 33lacs. All three bikes are powered by the same Thunderstroke 111 engine that produces a massive 139Nm of torque from the 1811cc engine. The three variants get different levels of equipment like keyless start, luggage system etc.

It’s a good time to be a biker in India, with so many new bike launches giving us a plethora of new choice!
