Harley Davidson: New Showroom in Pune And Goa + 2 new Bikes

Harley Davidsom, probably the best known name in biking across the world, recently announced that they are going to open 2 brand new showrooms in India. The company plans to offer 11 of its bikes from the bike capital of Pune, and the beaches of Goa in addition to the 10 existing showrooms it has in India. This will take the tally of official Harley Davidson showrooms in India to 12. So if you are in Pune and Goa, and were planning to get your hands on one of the Harley beasts, now is your chance.

Harley Davidson in Pune:

The Pune dealership will be a new establishment known as Two Rivers situated at Amanora Town Centre Mall. This is chronologically the 11th HD showroom in India, and like others before it, will provide access to all 11 HD bikes available in India.

The Pune showroom would be especially useful to existing HD bike owners, who won’t have to drive all the way to Mumbai to fix their bikes up. Believe us, there is nothing more punishing than dragging a broken HD on a highway.

Harley Davidson in Goa:

The Goa dealership began operations on 30th November 2013. The new dealership is located at Marine Plaza, and shouldn’t be so hard to find. The dealership would offer all the 11 bikes that Harley has available for the Indian market.

While opening a dealership in Goa,might sound like a strange idea. You might want to consider, that Goa probably attracts the highest number of foreign tourists in India. A lot of them, start off with Goa, and travel across India. What better bike to do that, than a HD.

The Harley Davidson Touring Line:

Harley Davidson currently offers 11 bikes in India, with their plans to launch a new touring line to hit the Indian Markets soon. The Harley Davidson homepage, shows that 2 new bikes namely Road King and Street Glide have been added, however it is unclear when those bikes would be available for sale. The two bikes are in line with Harley’s latest venture Project RUSHMORE, which if you are a biker should be checked out right now.

Harley Davidson RoadKing Variant

The brand new Road King hitting Indian markets soon

The current list as it stands right now is:

Sportster Dyna Softail  V-Rod Touring
SuperLow Street Bob Fat Boy Night Rod Special Road King
Iron Super Glide Custom Fat Boy Special Street Glide
Forty-Eight Fat Bob Heritage Softail Classic

The relationship between Harley Davidson and Indian market can be best defined as ‘Its Complicated’. Ever since the 2 governments decided that Harleys could be exported to India in exchange for mangoes (Yes, bikes for mangoes, that’s how Global relations work) in 2009, the biking company has seen some up and down.

Initially the imports were stalled by the fact that India did not have pollution emission standards in place for bike more than 500cc (you guess someone should have sorted this out before going for that Mango Deal). This was way back in 2007, in 2009 with those standards finally in place, Harley Davidson finally announced plans to open a subsidiary in Gurgaon, but those were stalled again due to tac-tariffs (amounting to a whopping 126% extra).

Finally the first Harley Davidson showroom saw the light of the Indian Sun in Hyderabad on July 9 2010. Since then the word famous company has gone on to open 12 new retail showrooms in various Tier 1 cities of India.
